Slide #1: H&E stained section with 2 glomeruli that are representative of the 13 glomeruli that were available for examination. In the center of the slide is a severely injured interlobular artery with massive edematous intimal expansion that has completed obliterated the lumen. Between the artery and the glomerulus to the right is an arteriole with fibrinoid necrosis but no associated inflammatory cell infiltration. The 2 glomeruli are consolidated but not hypercellular, and have no crescent formation.
